Émie Morissette is a talented painter and a big fan of Star Trek movies. On his way to Montreal Comiccon, she did not expect that one of his paintings was bought by Uhura interpreter, Nichelle Nichols herself.
“It’s motivating and encouraging to see someone react like that, it gives me wings to continue,” said the young artist aged only 15 years. She painted several characters created by Gene Roddenberry.
Nichelle Nichols so loved the painting she bought it. “She was ecstatic at my table. She said she could not sign it because it was too good. She looked and threw me: do you really think I’d let you get away with it ?, “told Émie.
Everything was done spontaneously, said the young woman, she expected that her artwork makes the emotions do arise, but not that way. “All the other actors have had strong reactions, but Nichols had the best. Before buying it, she looked at her for long time. When i was in the line, people told me that she was going to love it. ”
Initially, Mrs. Nichols asked her if she could give him, the young artist refused. She returned by offering to buy it. The girl agreed, seeing it as a great opportunity.
“What is super special is that it has lifted the arm’s length canvas and those who were lining began to applaud. I felt like I was doing him a gift, “she said.
Which has charmed the actors, according to her, is that she does not ask them to sign a picture or poster, but something has been done by hand.
Among the actors who have signed on his creations include Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard), Brent Spinner (Data), Levar Burton (Geordi La Forge), Michael Dorn (Dorf), William Shatner (Captain James T. Kirk) and George Takei (Sulu). However, she did not have time to meet Leonard Nimoy (Spock) before his death. “It is my greatest regret.”
